Schoolhouse has been given just one year before our current home is demolished.

For years, Schoolhouse has provided affordable studios, workshops, events, and gathering space for artists, makers, musicians, and the wider Coburg community. We’ve become a vital part of the cultural and social fabric of Merri-bek, a place where creativity, connection, and grassroots community can thrive.

We are not against development. We believe cities should grow and evolve. But growth should build upon the communities that already exist here, not displace them.

Without support, Schoolhouse, and the hundreds of artists, small businesses, community groups, and local residents who use this space, may not survive the transition.

We are calling on Merri-bek Council to work with us to secure a new long-term home for Schoolhouse within the municipality.
