This exhibition amplifies the voice of a single victim-survivor into a cry of protest. Through material and visual explorations, the work embodies the entrenched wrongs of violence against women and children.
Chiara Zeta is an emerging artist and researcher based in Naarm/Melbourne. She harnesses the power of experimental mixed media approaches to capture the elusive and persistent nature of fragmented traumatic memory. Zeta’s sharp yet fragile works embody glimpses of survivorship which reflect both dissociation and tenacity. By bringing the prolonged and painful process of mourning the impacts of trauma into the gallery space, her work becomes a form of protest. Zeta works with a variety of techniques including print, ceramic processes, photography, textiles, and artists’ books for their ability to embody emotion, intimacy and issues of disclosure and documentation.
