The Studio Space Is The Exhibition Opening Reception

In this solo exhibition, Hussain Alismail bridges art practice and exhibition space through a series of drawings, paintings, and live performance. By bringing the artist’s process into the gallery, he invites the audience to witness the raw, often unseen act of creation—a counterpoint to the digital immediacy of social media, where art is frequently consumed but rarely experienced in its evolving form.

Alongside live performance, Alismail presents a collection of playful, introspective doodles that reimagine Arab identity with warmth and wit. These works challenge stereotypes, offering an affirmative and dynamic representation of culture—one that thrives beyond rigid narratives.

Hussain Alismail is a Saudi visual artist and designer whose work explores the complexities of social dynamics, human relationships, and cultural narratives through painting, digital media, and interdisciplinary experimentation. Currently based in Melbourne, he is pursuing his Master of Design Innovation & Technology at RMIT, further expanding his creative practice.

With a foundation in fine arts and visual effects, Hussain trained in Drawing and Painting at OCAD University (Toronto) and studied Visual Effects & Entertainment Design at Flinders University (Adelaide), honing a versatile approach that bridges traditional and digital mediums. His work amplifies everyday conversations, offering a nuanced perspective on identity, community, and expression—often drawing inspiration from journey culture and the stories of individuals.

Beyond painting, Hussain actively engages with photography, film, and digital graphics, allowing him to adapt his voice across platforms. Whether through physical canvases or immersive digital installations, his art seeks to revitalize cultural connections and invite viewers into a shared dialogue about the human experience.
