Schoolhouse Studios is a not-for-profit incorporated association providing affordable work-spaces for emerging and established artists in a supportive and creative community. Schoolhouse Studios resides at the former Monastery and Sophia Mundi Steiner School on Nicholson Street in Abbotsford.

Schoolhouse Studios provides studio space for 75 visual artists, designers, toy makers, writers, architects, film makers, landscape architects, animators and more, who work and play in the sprawling, vine-covered site. Indoor and outdoor communal spaces host bands, book launches, plays and art galleries, basket ball games and Sunday gardening. Schoolhouse Studios was established by Alice Glenn and Elizabeth Barnett in March 2011, and incorporated as a not-for-profit in March 2012. The Schoolhouse Studios board consists of 7 members; Elizabeth Barnett, Alice Glenn, Hazel Brown, Mitra Anderson-Oliver, Sarah Hicks, Lauren Steller and Blake Byron-Smith.

At Schoolhouse Studios we have a variety of spaces for hire. Our studio spaces are converted from old classrooms, locker rooms, libraries, and computer rooms. If you wish to put your name down on our waiting list for a studio please contact us with your name and a little bit about your practice.
